There is nothing quite like hot chocolate (well, unless it's hot chocolate with a bit a booze in it when you're out in the cold!). It's indulgent, rich, fulfulling and just very, very soothing.
This version also contains almond butter, which you can leave out or substitute with any other nut butter - you're in for a treat..
Ingredients150 ml water
150 ml plant-based milk (I prefer oat or almond!)
2 tbsp cacao powder
50g dark chocolate (the more, the thicker it gets)
2 tsp maple syrup
1 tbsp almond butter
1 pinch salt
- Mix cold water and the cacao powder together in a pot using a whisk until the cacao has dissolved (this is MUCH more difficult if the water/milk is hot!) – your indulgent hot chocolate will be ready in minutes!
- Add the milk, maple syrup and salt and bring the liquid to a simmer and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes while you stir using a spoon/whisk
- Add roughly chopped chocolate, almond butter and let simmer for 2 more minutes while you stir
- Serve immediately, either with a dollop of almond butter or some almond milk foam (which you get using a milk frother!)
