I moved to London in 2012 and my friend, who let me crash on her couch, made this smoothie most mornings before she rushed off to work.
Lovely M bought bananas once a week, sliced them one by one in small bags and put them in the freezer. In the morning she took a bag out, poured some hot water over it (making the banana slices start to melt and making blending a little easier) and made herself a smoothie in literally two minutes.
Ingredients
1 banana (frozen)200 ml soy/oat/almond milk
1,5 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tbsp peanut butter
1 tbsp flax seeds
INSTRUCTIONS
- Place all ingredients (banana, any plant-based milk, cinnamon, flax seeds and peanut butter) in a blender and mix for 30 seconds. Garnish with ground cinnamon.
It’s seriously ingenious it’s to have sliced fruit in the freezer – you avoid using ice in smoothies, which makes the flavour more intense, and you end up throwing out less fruit that has gone bad. Frozen fruits and/or berries also make the smoothie thicker and creamier. I highly recommend it!
